Ploum advises Advario on realisation of sustainable fuel plant in the Port of Rotterdam

17 Oct '24

Rotterdam-based tank storage company Advario and Amsterdam-based hydrogen developer Power2X have signed an agreement to build a plant and terminals in the Botlek in the Port of Rotterdam to produce more sustainable jet fuel.

The plant and terminals should be ready by 2030. It involves an investment of over €1.5 billion. This new facility will be the world's largest for the production of synthetic aviation fuels (Electric Sustainable Aviation Fuel, ESAF). ESAF is produced from methanol, which is obtained from green hydrogen. From 2030, the use of ESAF will become mandatory in the European Union. The new plant will be able to cover 40% of EU demand, which is 5% of the amount refueled at Schiphol every year

Ploum advises Advario on the development of the new ESAF Hub in the Port of Rotterdam. The team consists of Alain de Jonge, Maayke Maas-Cooymans, Brigitte Ebben, Nydia de Winter and Lianne Sittrop-Robers.
