Energy Enforcement and sanctions SevesoMaayke is an expert in complex environmental law matters, with a special focus on external safety (Seveso companies), refineries and terminals (storage of various (renewable) products), energy transition (windfarms on- and offshore, solar energy farms, district heating) and climate / CO2, CO2 capture storage in the Rotterdam harbour area and other Dutch regions, the development of LNG terminals, but also ammonia storage, hydrogen storage and production for various companies like OCI, Gasunie, bp, Shell.
Maayke is a regular sparring partner of several important branch organisations such as VOTOB (independent tank storage organisation, http://www.votob.nl), Vemobin (refinery representatives, https://vemobin.nl), VNCI (chemical industry representatives https://www.vnci.nl/), Deltalinqs (port industry representatives, https://www.deltalinqs.nl/homepage) and NLHydrogen (hydrogen industry representatives, https://nlhydrogen.nl/).
Together with Stephan Sluijters, Maayke heads the Ploum Energy Team.
She is a board member of the Centre for International Energy Policy Centre for International Energy Policy. Maayke is a deputy judge in the Zeeland-West Brabant District Court (various environmental cases).

Maayke graduated from Utrecht University in 1997. She gained work experience during successive spells with Trenité Van Doorne, De Brauw Blackstone Westbroek and Simmons & Simmons, before joining Ploum as a lawyer and partner in 2008.
Maayke Maas-Cooymans has registered the following principal (and secondary) legal practice areas in the Netherlands Bar’s register of legal practice areas (rechtsgebiedenregister):
Based on this registration, Maayke Maas-Cooymans is required to obtain ten training credits per calendar year in each registered principal legal practice area in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar.
