Press release | Rutger Ploum and Nick Hessels continue as managing partners of Ploum Rotterdam Law Firm.

21 Sep '21

Today Ploum announced that Rutger Ploum  and Nick Hessels  have been reappointed as managing partners  of Ploum for the next two years. The new term will start on 1 January 2022. Ploum and Hessels have been leading Ploum since 2016.

Rutger Ploum: "Since 2016,  a lot of work has been done on expanding the array of  expertises. For example, we have added construction law, customs, food, a trademark prosecution practice,  and banking and finance law to our services in order to be able to advise our clients even more broadly. There was a great demand for this expansion of our service portfolio. These new practices have also led to a further growth in the number of professionals. In addition, we will also continue to invest in the next generation.”

Earlier this year, we managed to achieve a position in the top 5 of fast growing law firms in The Netherlands over the period 2017-2021. In this period Ploum has also won two prestigious awards for the best marketing campaign for the business and recruitment market. In times of Covid-19, the firm has remained well on track with an increasing turnover and good rankings in the Legal500 and Chambers & Partners as a result. These two international research institutes annually compare law firms with each other on  content, quality and feedback from clients.

Ploum operates at the top of the Dutch legal market and wants to continue that. "We will therefore continue to work on the development of the firm in the coming period, making us even more attractive as a business partner for our customers and as an employer."

"In addition to tech innovations to be able to do the work more efficiently and effectively, keeping your eyes open for the employee of tomorrow is extremely important when you want to be a leading professional firm. Our work revolves around people and human relationships/interactions. That’s why training and development opportunities on a personal and business level are extremely important for example. With our slogan: ‘Legal matters, business counts’, we indicate what it is all about for us: being a real business partner. Thinking along beyond the legal boundaries, building a good futureproof strategy together with our clients. That's where we add value and is what we stand for.”
