Geert advises Dutch and international clients on (cross-border) mergers and acquisitions, MBOs, joint ventures, restructurings, management and employee participations and other strategic transactions. He focuses on the (renewable) energy sector and also regularly advises on acquisitions and commercial contracts within that sector. In addition, Geert focuses on (M&A) real estate.
In 2017 Geert completed the Course Mergers & Acquisitions: Law, Finance, Skills, post-graduate course, ZIPO / VU Amsterdam and in 2021 the Grotius course on Corporate Law.
‘Geert de Nijs supports projects in an excellent manner: he is not only strong and creative on the strict legal merits but also has a good eye for dimensions such as the relationship between shareholders and its possible evolution over the years, which is equally invaluable advice.’ - Legal 500 EMEA 2023
In addition to having previously worked at Loyens & Loeff and HVG Law, Geert has been in-house counsel for more than two years at a globally operating manufacturer of offshore equipment in the oil, gas and renewables industry.
Because of his experience as a in-house counsel, Geert, in addition to the legal side of the work, also has an eye for the larger playing field and the many interests, personal connections and characters that come with an intensive M&A process.
