In response to the invasion and war in Ukraine, we joined 19 other law firms in the Netherlands in joining forces for Ukraine and the national action of a lawyers' collective: Stand Firm! We swore an oath in the acceptance of our office, promising faithfully to never defend a case or represent an interest we could not in good conscience justify. Ukraine is defending its democracy with all its power, but without external support it is an unequal fight. We will therefore offer support by not representing the interests of those who (indirectly) facilitate the war against Ukraine. Ploum will decline transactions that are possibly aimed at securing the interests of the Russian president, the Russian state, Russian (state) companies or the Russian elite in so far as they do not openly take a stand against the invasion of Ukraine.
