According to the Dutch Legal AI Adoption Survey Report, 63.5% of legal professionals now use AI on a daily basis for legal research. At the same time, 67.8% report that the initial output is usually not immediately fit for purpose. Review, refinement and professional judgement remain essential.
That aligns with our experience.
The discussion around AI often focuses on technology. For us, it is primarily about added value. We do not adopt AI simply because it is available or because it sounds innovative. We use technology when it leads to better client service, higher quality work, or creates more room for our people to focus on the areas where their expertise truly makes a difference.
Finding, organising and processing information is becoming increasingly efficient. That is a clear benefit. However, clients do not engage a lawyer simply because they can locate legal information. They seek an adviser who understands their situation, can assess risks, and helps them make the right decisions.
For that reason, we expect the value of legal work to shift. Legal professionals will spend less time gathering information and more time on analysis, strategy, negotiations, and understanding the commercial and personal interests that underpin legal issues.
This development also raises important questions. If AI can perform parts of the work more quickly, how do we ensure that junior legal professionals continue to gain sufficient practical experience? How do we prevent knowledge and skills from being lost? And how do we train professionals who can not only work with AI, but also critically evaluate its outputs?
To us, these are more important questions than the technology itself.
That is why we invest not only in tools, but also in adoption, training and knowledge sharing. We are developing ways of working in which technology supports professional expertise, rather than the other way around.

We are also considering the implications for our services. Not because we expect the legal profession's business model to change overnight, but because clients increasingly expect greater speed, accessibility and transparency. AI presents opportunities to organise legal services in different and smarter ways. We want to explore those opportunities while always keeping one question in mind: what tangible value does this create for our clients?
That approach reflects the way we do business.
Curious where it helps. Critical where it matters. No technology for technology’s sake, but solutions that work.
Ultimately, AI may change the way legal work is performed. What will not change is what clients come to us for: expertise, commitment, sound judgement, and a lawyer who understands what is truly at stake.
