Sophie de Clercq

Specialisation

Sophie has been working in Ploum’s Corporate Law practice since 2020, primarily advising Dutch and international clients on mergers and acquisitions, restructurings, and joint ventures. Additionally, she advises clients on various corporate law matters, such as shareholders' agreements and cooperation agreements.

Sophie is also involved in Ploum's energy practice, where she advises in various acquisitions and collaborations for and with Dutch and international clients active in the (renewable) energy sector, such as oil and gas, wind and solar energy, heat, electricity, and hydrogen.

Background

Sophie completed her bachelor's degrees in Dutch Law and Tax Law at Erasmus University Rotterdam. In 2020, she obtained her master's degree in Corporate Law from Erasmus University Rotterdam. During her studies, she volunteered at a legal advice center, was active in a study association, completed several internships, and worked as a student employee at a law firm. Sophie wrote her master's thesis on the digital general meeting in Dutch private and public limited companies, comparing it with Delaware and the United Kingdom.
