Iris Brinkhof

Specialisation

Iris is a member of the Energy Team of Ploum. In her advice and litigation practice, she mainly deals with cases related to the energy and water sector.

Background

Iris graduated from Utrecht University in December 2003, majoring in Private Law and Criminal Law. After graduating, she worked for Rischen & Nijhuis in Rotterdam. There she worked within the procedural law and employment law practice. In 2008 Iris moved to Ploum and specializes in national and international contract law. In the field of contract law Iris advises and assists clients through the entire process from drawing up and negotiation to termination of commercial contracts. Her practice also frequently involves advising on, drawing up and evaluating general terms and conditions.

Iris was an in-house lawyer for 15 months (2018/2019) at a large oil company, advising the business on the matters in the area of civil and energy law.

Iris completed the Post-Graduate Programme in Energy Law at the VU University Amsterdam in 2011. In 2018 she completed the Grotius post-doctorate study program in National & International Contracting with distinction (cum laude).

Iris Brinkhof has registered the following principal (and secondary) legal practice areas in the Netherlands Bar’s register of legal practice areas (rechtsgebiedenregister):

  • General practice (algemene praktijk), sub legal practice area civil law (burgerlijk recht); and
  • Contract law (verbintenissenrecht).

Based on this registration, Iris Brinkhof is required to obtain ten training credits per calendar year in each registered principal legal practice area in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar.
