Eveline Heijdra

Specialisation

Eveline specialises in transport, maritime and trade and advises and litigates on liability issues in international trade and logistics, cargo damages, and international trade contracts.

Background

Eveline studied law at the Erasmus University Rotterdam and graduated in transportlaw. During her studies she worked for Professor K.F. Haak. After her studies she started as a claimshandler at a P&I club, where she handled claims for charterers and ship owners.  Then she worked as a lawyer at the Royal Dutch Grain Committee and NOFOTA, she drafted and edited contracts, answered legal questions from members, and acted as a clerk in arbitrations. After that, Eveline worked as a transport lawyer/attorney at an insurer where she handled claims in the field of inland navigation, road, air, and sea transport as well as in the field of (commercial) contracts and led the team of transport law lawyers. Subsequently, she worked for a shipping company/multimodal carrier, where she engaged as the manager of the legal & claims team and attorney at law in drafting commercial and procurement contracts, handling complex claims related to bill of lading and charterparty disputes, and various legal issues in the areas of transport, maritime, and insurance.

In 2014, Eveline successfully finished the Grotius specialisation course in Transport Law.

Eveline Heijdra has registered the following principal (and secondary) legal practice areas in the Netherlands Bar’s register of legal practice areas (rechtsgebiedenregister):

  • Transport – and Tradelaw

Based on this registration, Eveline Heijdra is required to obtain ten training credits per calendar year in each registered principal legal practice area in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar.
