Martijn is specialised in advisory work and litigation in matters concerning intellectual property rights, advertising law and privacy and data protection law. He regularly litigates before courts and the self-regulatory Advertising Code Committee (Reclame Code Commissie).
Martijn has a special interest in the interplay between law and new technology.
In 2016, Martijn obtained his master’s degree in Information Law at the Institute for Information Law (IViR) of the University of Amsterdam. His thesis on Wifi Tracking technology and the legal framework for such tracking technologies is published in Computerrecht (Belgian-Dutch Journal on Information Technology Law). Moreover, Martijn studied at the Masaryk University in Brno (Czech Republic) and Utrecht University.
In addition to his work as an attorney, Martijn regularly publishes and teaches, mainly on topics relating to online and offline advertising and marketing. Prior to his career in law, Martijn worked as a self-employed sound designer and music composer.
Martijn Poulus has registered the following principal (and secondary) legal practice areas in the Netherlands Bar’s register of legal practice areas (rechtsgebiedenregister):
Based on this registration, Martijn Poulus is required to obtain ten training credits per calendar year in each registered principal legal practice area in accordance with the standards set by the Netherlands Bar.
